March ’68 and its Reception in Israel – a short film
Joseph’s Meiri’s project is an attempt to create an experimental documentary which will present major issues and events on Israeli (Jewish)-Polish relations, particularly on the events of 1968 in Poland, and their reception in Israel (such as newspapers articles from that time etc.). This production shall not be a regular documentary but it will be based on a personal point of view and interpretation of the events. The primary objective of the project is to describe the way Poland and Poles are seen through the eyes of the Israeli, with respect to the Holocaust and the events of 1968 in particular. The author intends to achieve this goal with the use of archive footage and animated iconic images and soundtrack.

As Joseph Meiri is a student of the Film and Digital Media Department and not a researcher or author of documentaries he is not interested in conducting historical research based on documents, interviews and other evidence but he wishes to draw on facts to provide the background of the film (and more importantly to show how these facts are perceived in Israel) and present them in a certain way that may give rise to a different interpretation of the events.
